About this Look: "Ruffles and Pleats"

I wanted to go for a more elegant feel with this look, while still keeping it fun. That's why I decided to pair the white ruffled top and the salmon-colored electric pleated trousers (more formal) with the floral wedges (fresh!) :) This look is also a product of my mid-year sale escapades.

The wide-legged trousers from Topshop were half off, cutting the price down to PhP 1,200.
The floral wedges from Aldo were also on sale, and I got them for PhP 2,800 (from about 4k!)

Two great pieces from two great brands at really good prices! :) It's times like these when
Patience really is a virtue. It pays to wait a while til shops go on sale... then you score really great finds and manage to save some money ;)

Hello, Aldo!

So remember I said I'd get a piece from the summer Aldo collection I fell in love with? Well today, I finally did!

I was in luck, because before going back home from my Mom's birthday lunch at Greenbelt, we took a little detour and checked out the Aldo sale. I remember really wanting to get the floral pumps I saw before. And yes, they were on sale. Buuut sadly, they didn't have it in my size (their biggest was a size 9 which STILL didn't fit my feet. Oh why oh why must my feet be so HUGE.) I looked around some more, and saw a pair with the same floral design, but were wedges. So strange, because with this pair, size 9 was too big. The size 8 fit just right :D Since they only had one pair in that size, I called it destiny and brought these babies home.

Yes, they may be "out of season", but you know how fashion is.... it fades, but always comes back! And besides, I think floral shoes are a pretty good staple piece to have in your closet :)

So here they are :D From about Php 4,000 I got these for PhP 2,800. Not bad for a pair of Aldo shoes. Happiness!

What I'm Lovin Now: Schu

So I was in Shangri-la Mall looking for cargo pants for a dance costume which was honestly, not very exciting :/ I wasn't crazy about spending probably 1k or more on a pair of pants I knew I would not really use after our performance. And they weren't exactly easy to find. A lot of shops didn't carry them anymore, and if they had stock, they were very limited. Mostly skinnies. Eventually I decided to give up, and just head back. But thank the heavens, because I decided to take one more turn around the shops, and came across a sign which had my favorite word on it: SALE. I looked up to see what store I was standing in front of, and I jumped for joy when I realized it was Schu! :)

I've always loved the brand. I never fail to check out their items whenever I come across one of their branches. I admit I find their prices quite on the upper scale, so I'd basically just window shop or try to save up some money to go back for something I like. But this time, I could NOT say no. Why? Because in this moving out sale, everything was for PhP 799 and below!! I died just a little then :))

In cases of shopping emergencies such as this, it's always great to have a credit card on stand by :D You never know when you're going to need it. Haha.

After looking around for a bit, my eye caught these brown and black heels with leopard straps as an accent. As a lover of animal print, I knew I had to get them. Since I'm also into more bold or flashy colors now, I also decided to get these gold loafers which I knew my sister and I could share :) My happiness for my finds grew when the saleslady told me that the original prices of the shoes were about PhP 3,000 +! What awesome buys! I was extremely glad I didn't miss out on this! :D

(Took shots of the shoes boxes and packaging as well because I think they're just so pretty. Perfect for gifts! You can just give them straight in the box! :D)

Today I felt like putting together an outfit that featured color blocking (which I've been wanting to try), and I paired them with the nice new heels I got :) Happy with the turn out!

Looking forward to styling an outfit with my gold loafers. Really glad I got these two pairs. Happiness is indeed spelled S.A.L.E! Hopefully I'll bump into one again soon! Til then!

Rainy Summer Monday Morning

It's the day I dread the most in a week, and it happens to be a rainy one. When I got ready to leave, instead of stepping out in open-toed flats or sandals, I had to go through my closet for my thickest wool jacket in anticipation of our office's subzero air condition units. Really, it's a double whammy when you compare today to the lyrics of a song that go, "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down." But what's a girl to do when faced with days like these?

Put on your favorite boots, that's what!

So I brought out my favorite, most comfortable (in an I-can-walk-all-day-long-in-them way) leather boots and wore them to work today.

This was another great and surprising find from my trip to Hong Kong in December of 2009. I happened to come across a Cotton On branch along Granville Road and, surprise of surprises, the whole shop was on sale.
This was the last pair of boots in my size (coincidentally, Cooky and I have the same shoe size, so we can share shoes) and they were being sold for 50% off. So I bought them for a grand total of just PhP 600 (HKD 100, USD 13). Whether I pair these with skinny jeans or shorts, and a loose top or faux-winter wear (since we live in the tropics anyway), they're a great accessory to have.

Do you have a pair of favorite boots? What's the story behind it?
